Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage

When we hear about Pinnawala just we memorize the Pinnawala Elephant Orphanage. It is located 13 km northeast of Kegalle town in Sabaragamuwa Province of Sri Lanka. In Pinnawala, you can see the largest herd of captive elephants in the world. This elephant orphanage is built to protect and care for our unwanted wild elephants. You can see elephants bathing, feeding. And the amazing thing is you can enjoy with elephant back riding there. Tourists love this place very much.

Temple of Tooth Relic

Kandy is a major city 122.4 km away from Colombo in central Province, Sri Lanka which has a historical, religious and natural value. There is no traveling schedule of tourists without Kandy city. Peradeniya Botanical Garden

Royal Botanical garden is situated in Peradeniya about 5.5km west of the city of Kandy in the central province of Sri Lanka. Annually it gets 2 million visitors. Most of the tourists visit there to see more than 4000 species of plants including orchids, rare and endemic trees, and medicinal plants. Mahaweli River also takes part in increasing the beauty of this garden. It spreads over 147 acres and at 460m above sea level.

Tea Plantation

The central province is the main region where Sri Lanka’s top exporting good Ceylon Tea is produced. Significant areas in the upcountry were converted to tea plantations during the time of British colonization. In the beginning of British rule, tea plants were introduced to the island in hopes of creating a lucrative export industry.

Herbal Garden

Sri Lanka is famous for many varieties of spices from the past. There are so many Herbal and spice gardens in Sri Lanka. Most of them are located in the middle of the country; near Matale, Mawanella, and Hingula. There they have grown herbs like Turmeric, Cinnamon, Vanilla, Aloe Vera, Cocoa, Cardamom, and many more.
